Maine Department of Education Child Nutrition - Financial Information

School nutrition is financially accounted for separately from the district’s general operating budget. Maine DOE explains that revenues deposited into the nonprofit school food service account are restricted and may only be used for operating or improving the school nutrition program. Funding includes federal and state meal reimbursements and other eligible nutrition revenues.
